Caracterización de las personas menores de edad con epilepsia refractaria

Abstract
Se presentan los resultados obtenidos en una investigación realizada durante los años 2000 al 2002, con una población de 75 personas menores de edad con epilepsia refractaria estudiados en la Unidad de Monitoreo y Cirugía de Epilepsia del Hospital Nacional de Niños.
Esta investigación fue de tipo cuantitativa y retrospectiva, se basó en el estudio de los expedientes de salud de estos pacientes. La información que se obtuvo hace referencia a las características sociodemográficas, inicio y causas de la epilepsia, tipo de cirugía, el desarrollo intelectual y características de sus familias, entre otros. La divulgación de estos resultados busca generar conocimiento sobre una enfermedad crónica, poco conocida y que a la vez pueda servir de base en futuras investigaciones.
